Is your body sabotaging you from losing weight? Ready to be shocked…?
When you are trying to lose weight your body is actually working against you. It’s something called “resistant biology” and the big reason you end up on the ‘gain / lose’ again cycle.
Here's how it works.
We are born with millions of fat cells, and we need them for energy and survival.
Fat cells are remarkable - when they don’t get out of control.
Now I'm sure you've used the term "burn fat" or at least heard someone else say it...but fat cells can do one thing: increase in size, expanding to full capacity (inflammation)...not rapidly multiply. You can't get rid of them; however, you can shrink them to a more manageable size.
And once you gain weight your body loves to stay there. It always wants to be at its highest sustained body weight because that's when the cells are largest and fullest. They are comfy there.
This is why you can take 6 months to lose 30lb and then fall off the wagon and return to your old habits and boom, gain 35 lb in 4 weeks. Your body wants to be at that higher weight, so as soon as your old habits sneak back in, your fat cells hold onto the fat like ravenous vultures.
Tip: Your body pushes back faster the more rapid your weight loss is. (Be very scared of a quick fix, lose fast weight protocols).
So If you are struggling with your weight it's essential you know this because you have to be consciously aware every day. You have to be diligent and focus on lifestyle habits. Avoid “21 day Beachbody diet” at all costs because as soon as it’s over, IT WILL ALL come back.
You don’t get to take weeks, months off your health, wellness, & weight-loss journey because of “stress, business, celebrations, vacation,” or your body WILL 100% jump back up to its comfort zone.
Scary, yes but essential for you to know. This is why the "CICO method (calories in / calories out) is a poor model for lifelong success in maintaining a healthy weight. There are far superior ways to manage weight and stay healthy for life!
The 80/20 principle, nutrient timing, macro nutrient proportions, intermittent fasting, and intuitive eating are the way to go for successful, sustainable weight loss. (Unsure what all of those are? Keep reading.)
