Can you believe we are nearly half way through the summer?
Time flies when you're having fun!
I wanted to share a short post with you as I get asked quite often about my "favorite" ______ (fill in the blank). From nutrition guidance, to meditation apps, books I recommend, to oracle card decks I use, people are always inquiring about my personal faves. So I thought (seasonally) I would share my "top 5" wellness brands, products, or practices to help you feel your very best too!
Here's what I'm loving this Summer~
Clean Beauty
According to the EWG (Environmental Working Group), the average American woman applies 168 chemicals to their faces and bodies every day! Cosmetics, perfumes, shampoo, antiperspirants, lotions, and feminine hygiene products are among the top offenders. Many of these chemicals have been found to be "innocent until proven guilty" by the FDA and other government and personal safety administrations, all which use this no harm, no foul policy. In fact the personal care industry is wildly unregulated, and the U.S. has not passed a major federal law governing the cosmetics industry since 1938...
I found Beauty Counter just over a year ago, on my mission to reduce daily toxin exposure.
(please read more about how this effects your health here: https://www.thewellnesswandererblog.com/post/the-ugly-truths-of-the-beauty-industry )
Not only did they create the "Never List" (a list of over 1,800 harmful chemicals they promise to never use as ingredients in their products), they are fighting to change the personal care industry standards as a leading advocate for safety in the beauty industry.
And don't let the word "beauty" fool you. Men are equally exposed to these potentially dangerous chemicals through colognes, deodorants, shower and shave gels, sunscreens and moisturizers.
Beauty Counter is by far my favorite brand of better beauty and personal care products on the market today. Their products are safe and effective, and offered at a reasonable price point. What's not to love? Check out what they have to offer and start your transition to non-toxic living here! https://www.beautycounter.com/sarahbeherns
Healthy Made Easy
The grocery store can be a place of misinformation and confusion when trying to make healthier lifestyle choices. A hodgepodge of labels to confuse us into wondering should we be eating low fat or low carb, and have you spending precious time, money and energy trying to decipher it all. And for many of you like me, a "health food store" with a large variety and inventory isn't a local option.
Thrive Market is my summer jam (and every season)! It's like Amazon, meets Whole Foods, with Costco sprinkled in. They offer high quality products at low costs, delivered straight to your door. The list of brands and products that Thrive Market has available in unmatched in my opinion. You can find anything from keto snacks, paleo baking necessities, non-toxic pet, baby, and household supplies, now even offering clean wine and sustainably sourced organic meat and seafood; all with the convenience of shipping direct to you.
Now that's a WIN! To shop (and save!) Thrive Market click the link below:
Summer Reading List
I don't know about you, but one of my absolute favorite things to do on these long summer days is catch some sunshine while reading a good book (a tan, useful knowledge, and vitamin D?! YES PLEASE!). I have read some incredible personal development books this year already, but one I couldn't put down was "Eat Smarter" by Shawn Stevenson.
He delivers powerful information about nutrition and how you can take control of your health. Shawn's witty and down to earth delivery makes this book fun to read and the information digestible (pun indented). Whether you are new to the wellness game or a long time player, this book is sure to be your new "go-to" for so many health and well-being related topics.

Listen Up
Reading isn't everyone's cup of tea; maybe you are busy or have long commutes daily, so sitting down to flip through a book may be challenging. THANK YOU podcasts! There are many valuable and reputable podcasters out there, offering thought provoking and informative conversations (and no I don't mean murder mysteries...). While I have a few that I love, and favorite "guests" I will follow from podcast to podcast, one sticks out as a top pick.
"The Genius Life" with Max Lugavere (a health and science journalist, author, and now podcast host) offers some of the most useful knowledge you can find. He discusses a variety of topics from disease prevention and bio-hacking to stress management and spirituality, and everything in between. Max's guests are leaders in their respective industries and will always leave you with new found knowledge. Not to mention his voice is easy to listen to!
(If you are into reading, his books "Genius Foods" and Genius Life" are outstanding.)
You can find his show "The Genius Life" anywhere you can listen to podcasts (now available on YouTube also) but here's a quick link to Spotify, happy listening and happy learning!
Get Social
I have recently cut my social media time nearly in half, but what I have learned more than anything is that social media isn't inherently bad. However, what you consistently expose yourself to becomes part of your reality. So I have taken the past few months to "clean up" my list of accounts I follow, and chose to view only the ones that leave me feeling inspired and empowered.
Most of you know I consider myself a "modern mystic", being intrigued by all things in the spiritual realm (from ancient practices to new age "woo-woo"). I have learned so much about other culture's beliefs and have been able to truly take a look at my own personal belief system. I love growing in my spirituality and being able to learn and constantly evolve my practices to better serve my highest good and that of the collective.
One thing I have always found interesting (and now extremely practical) is astrology. It is an ancient system, utilizing the planetary alignment, phases of the moon, and natal charts to decipher how to best use current and personal energies. It is by no means a crystal ball, rather a post-it note from the Universe, offering guidance and clarity. When I found @SpiritDaughter on Instagram , I was able to dive in even deeper to many of the misunderstood aspects of astrology.
Spirit Daughter (Jill Wintersteen) shares daily shifts in energy we can be aware of and affirmations you can use with the current skies to help you tap into your intuition. She will have you feeling more connected, grounded, and inspired than ever before, all while sharing her wisdom of astrology. Even if you are "star curious" and don't follow moon magic, Spirit Daughter shares powerful mantras with her audience that help everyone tap into their limitless personal power, and that's something we can all use! Follow her on Instagram and check out her website for more on what she has to share: https://www.instagram.com/spiritdaughter/
