2020 Vision

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

As we prepare to enter a new year and new decade, many of us can be overwhelmed by feelings of "whats to come". Often we are focused on creating new habits and achieving our goals, and as incredible as that is, it can lead to burn out and frustration. So I wanted to share some of my favorite practices that you can come back to at anytime, with any transition, not just at the beginning of a new year.

Setting Intentions

Intentions and goals can seem very similar but each have a separate meaning. Goals are created with a specific achievement or outcome in mind where as an intention is typically independent of a destination. Intention is a mental state representing a commitment to carrying out an action in the future. They can help you create clarity and drive your visions, as well as keeping you aligned with your goals.

For example, you could have a goal to lose weight or advance in your career. A few intentions that would support those would be "I intend to show up for myself" or "I intend to channel my energy into activities that enhance my progress".

You can also choose to declare a theme for the year and attaching a key word or phrase will help you stay true to your intention. If you want to cultivate more self-love for example, you could use the word "compassion", reminding you to show yourself grace and not to be too hard on yourself. Here is a list of some of my favorite "key words" that you can use to build your own personal intention:

*Growth

*Abundance

*Patience

*Gratitude

*Passion

*Presence

*Release

*Wellness

*Inspiration

*Purpose

*Love

Allow yourself to dream and get creative, and narrow in on what you want to call into your life. Set your intention based on what you want to cultivate more of!

Releasing What No Longer Serves You

From your wardrobe to your emotions, old emails to self sabotaging behaviors or thoughts, expired cosmetics and sometimes even relationships... to make room for the new, you must clear the old. As humans we are allowed to grow and evolve, but have a tendency to want to remain stagnant out of fear (of failure, judgement, scarcity or disapproval). It is in our nature to need the feeling of control, instead of releasing our grip and going with what the Universe has intended for us. This can sound simple yet be extremely challenging. One of my favorite practices, especially surrounding release, is gratitude. You can create a list of experiences, feelings, places, people, or items that you have a reason to be thankful for. Sometimes this means even the ones that came into your life as a lesson to be learned or a not so pleasant memory. It can also be accomplishments and things that brought you joy. The only way to true expansion is through gratitude, and the belief life is happening FOR you not TO you.

Now is your chance to reflect on the past year, express gratitude, and determine what came into your life that is ready to be released. Make a few lists using the following prompts:

*What accomplishments did I make this year (big or small)?

*What did I set out to do but left incomplete?

*What did I learn this year (about myself or others)?

*What challenges did I experience and how did (or how will) they help me grow?

*How can I shift my perception of events in my life or rid myself of limiting beliefs?

*In what areas of my life did I "breakthrough" or in what ways did I "up level" this year?

Let the answers to these questions help you determine what is worthy of your energy in the new year and what can remain in 2019.

Manifesting Your Future

I'm sure you've heard the Law of Attraction (and if you haven't); the ability to attract into our lives what we focus on, the power of the mind to translate thoughts and materialize them into reality. Now that may sound a bit "woo-woo", but more simply put, it is the belief that our positive or negative thoughts bring us positive or negative experiences....which doesn't seem so outlandish when stated in those terms.

There are a few helpful steps to manifesting more of what you want into your life. I can attest to these simple rules, and almost guarantee if they are followed, you can't stop the goodness from coming to you! Wether its love, abundant finances, meaningful relationships, career success or something else, you have the power to get what you need and deserve.

1) GET CLEAR

Be specific and realistic. Ask yourself "what do I need to come into my life?" Set clear intentions for what you wish to create and why you need these things.

2) GRATITUDE

Show and express true gratitude for what you already have, and what is to come. Just because you don't have it yet, doesn't mean you can't be thankful for the process of getting there and the lessons you learn along the way. We are all big walking, talking balls of energy, vibrating at different frequencies. If your hope is to attract more into your life you must be a "vibrational match" for those things. The easiest way to change and raise your vibration is gratitude! I promise once you find all the things to be grateful for, the universe will send you more.

3) ASK

Don't be afraid to declare exactly what you want. When was the last time you received something without asking first? Or did something without asking permission? Put it out into the universe through words and actions, without doubt or fear. Journaling or speaking with yourself and people who inspire and uplift you will only help support your intentions and what you are trying to manifest into your life.

4) TRUST

For any process to work, you have to believe it is going to. Doubt is the quickest way to halt the process. Even on a weight loss journey, if there is self doubt present, the results are much slower to come or non existent. Here's a few of my favorite reminders when it comes to trusting that the process will work.

*It is not always perfect, linear, or easy.

*As long as you continue to work toward what you want, you need no active timeline.

*Release expectation of the outcome or comparison to others.

*Let go of lack or scarcity mindset, or a "woe is me" mentality.

*Anything that does not materialize is not meant for you.

5) KEEP VIBIN' HIGH

Continue to stay in alignment with what you are trying to manifest. Choose actions, people, and activities that move you toward your highest potential. Do things that will raise your vibration, mental health, and spiritual growth. Be present in each day instead of limiting your life with a timeline and looking for proof.

**There is no magic lamp or genie, no wishing well or wands with spells involved. Just because it is possible does not mean it is EASY or doesn't require WORK.**

2020 is at your feet ... what will you do with it?
